The Film
Photographed by Andrew Fitzgibbon during a 127 mile psychogeographic wander, Drifting by the Leeds & Liverpool is a portrait of humanity's everyday condition using traces in the landscape that mark possession, use and abuse along the canal. It is a poignant experience of absence, deindustrialisation, regeneration and the tranquility of water. The short film includes a narrative, beautifully voiced by Yorkshire actor Paul Butterworth (The Full Monty, Strike) and features contemporary ambient sound recordings from the canal and sampled oral histories from its industrial past.
